350.orgWorld Community is asking our supporters to join this week-long, world wide film screening event starting May 16 to educate our communities about the threat of impending climate crisis. We are asking you to host a small house screening of the 40 minute film, Do the Math, from 350.org. (You can watch a two minute trailer at http://act.350.org/signup/math-movie/)

We will make DVD’s available to you, point you to a lot of resource material to support your effort, and organize some follow up action if people want to get more involved.

It’s simple math: we can burn less than 565 more gigatons of carbon dioxide and stay below 2°C of warming — anything more than that risks catastrophe for life on earth. The only problem? Fossil fuel corporations now have 2,795 gigatons in their reserves, five times the safe amount. And they’re planning to burn it all — unless we rise up to stop them.

In November 2012, Bill McKibben and 350.org hit the road to build a movement strong enough to change the terrifying math of the climate crisis. The “Do the Math Tour” was a massive success, with sold out shows in every corner of the US.

The tour is now over, but the campaign it launched is just getting started and World Community is asking our supporters to become a direct part of the action.

If you can commit to inviting a few people to an informal home based screening or simply want more information about getting involved, please send your contact information ASAP to wcdes.cv@gmail.com
