World Community supports the following local organisations:

Comox Bay Care Society

a non-profit organization with a well established track record. If you have seen the Care-A-Van mobile healthcare unit on the streets of Courtenay and Comox you know that we are on duty. Since the start of the program on April 27th 2009, over 850 individuals who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness have received healthcare services aboard our van.

Comox Valley Transition Society.

Comox Valley Transition Society supports women, children and families in the Comox, Cumberland Courtenay areas and beyond (including Denman and Hornby Islands) who are experiencing or fleeing abuse, overcoming trauma, working toward/through recovery, and those who are unsheltered and/or struggling through poverty. We support and empower women to make the best decisions for themselves, their children and their families.

Learn more about HIV & HCV safer sex, HIV testing or transmission, STDs and harm reduction. Find services for you or someone you know. All confidential calls taken by trained staff and volunteers.

  • Presentations for populations with greater exposure to HIV and HVC, social service organizations, and other community organizations are available by request.
  • Educational materials promoting improved health, safer drug use, safer sex and more are available to the public at all AVI offices and online.
  • Naloxone distribution and training
