I Will Be a Hummingbird
A Film by Bill Benenson & Gene Rosow
When confronted with adversity, you can either stand aside or do the best you can. Nobel Laureate Wangari Maathai stood up to seemingly insurmountable challenges all her life, and won. Like the hummingbird in this story, to give up was never an option for her.

This animated short tells the story of Oma, who is moving from her house on Maple Street where she lived most of her life to a senior’s residence where she doesn’t know anyone. Her granddaughter Emily, a young girl full of wide-eyed enthusiasm, senses that her grandmother isn’t sure she will like her new home. Emily does something she hopes will ease the burden of this momentous change.
Even in February, we still have the holiday spirit. This short inspiring film shows that you don’t have to live at the North Pole or drive reindeer to be a Santa to someone; you only have to care and share.
